The Role

You will use statistical and machine learning techniques to analyse large-scale user data, including text data and social media. You will have good experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and text analysis; as you will be applying machine learning techniques for text mining and information extraction based on structured,

semi-structured and unstructured data.  This means you’ll be bringing your imagination, love of experimentation, and scripting skills to bear in furthering our goal of building out the greatest depth of understanding as to how to extract actionable insight from user posts.  You will work in a team comprising machine learning, NLP and software engineering experts.  Knowledge and Skills Essential

• Experience in, and good understanding of, applied machine learning for text

analysis and natural language processing

• NLP background in text mining: preprocessing, language modelling, language identification, named entity recognition, entity linking, information extraction, sentiment analysis

• Excellent programming skills in one or more of Python, Java/Scala or R

• Working knowledge of using machine learning techniques such as

bootstrapping, boosting and sequence tagging for text analysis

• Ability to run reproducible experiments and analyse results: from collecting

raw data, statistical modelling and performance benchmarking, to packaging

working prototypes

• Ability to coordinate effectively with team members in engineering, design,

and product management

• Results oriented person with a delivery focus and the ability to solve data

problems incrementally


• Recurrent Neural Networks models for text understanding (from word

embeddings to sequence to sequence models)

• Experience with at least one of: scikit-learn,, Spark, Jupyter

• Knowledge of modern NLP tools: , Tensorflow, Keras, Stanford


• Knowledge of crowd-sourcing platforms is a plus

• Experience developing and deploying working prototypes

• Familiarity with cloud based technologies (AWS, Docker, Spark)
