DevOps Engineer – Crewe Cheshire

My industry leading client in their field urgently require an Experienced DevOps Engineer to join their growing IT Team due to continued success.

This is commutable from Crewe, Stoke, Sandbach, Nantwich, Winsford, Northwich and surrounding areas

  • Work closely with the development teams in order to set up, configure and maintain multiple environments across the enterprise solution (covering both on premise and cloud applications).

  • Ideally have experience of setting up Oracle Apex

  • Code build / deployment across all environments.

  • Manage scripts to use in fortnightly releases.

  • Testing of infrastructure deployment and scaling.

  • Database deployment.

  • Load testing and capacity planning.

  • Application configuration and monitoring.

  • Incident investigation both internally and in collaboration with technical partners.

    Skills Required

  • You will hold a degree in a technical subject

  • A background in automating application deployment and configuration management

  • Knowledge of Java ecosystem - how applications are deployed, configuration of servlet containers

  • Strong Linux Sysadmin skills

  • Basic programming experience

  • Knowledge of common web servers – Tomcat, Nginx, Apache

  • Working knowledge of SSL certificate deployment, config hardening and domain registration

  • Good knowledge of internet communication concepts and protocols - TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP

  • Experience of deploying Continuous Integration solutions

  • Basic Database Admin Skills – preferably relating to Oracle/Redis/MySQL database

  • An awareness of security considerations in web application deployment

  • Experience of working with a COTS ERP product, especially Oracle Cloud ERP would be beneficial, but not mandatory.

  • Experience of using JIRA

  • Experience of working in a software development environment

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to “hit the ground running”.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.

  • Ability to deal effectively with rapidly changing requirements under pressure and prioritise workload to help maximise company performance and profitability.

  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm to improve techniques, implement appropriate new technologies and transfer knowledge throughout the team.
